2025 Oregon State Team Championships

South Meadows Middle School

The two-day Chess for Success State Tournament has been held annually since 1967, and is open to all students in grades K-12 who reside in Oregon.  See the information for finalists who qualify for the state tournament.

Teams that have qualified, should register on BracketJD

To register:

  1. If you are from one of our partner schools, check with your coach for your registration access code than follow the directions below
  2. If you are not from one of our partner schools, submit your credit card payment via our PayPal link.  Once your payment is processed you will get an email with your registration access code.  Alternatively, you can mail a check payable to Chess for Success at 4207 SE Woodstock Blvd #271, Portland, Or  97206.  Please include a valid email address with payment, upon receipt of payment we will email the registration access code.

Once you have your access code:

  1. Visit BracketJD and sign up for your account if you don't already have one.  (An account is necessary because tournament pairings and results will be delivered electronically after each round)
  2. Log in to your Bracket JD account and search for "Chess for Success"
  3. Click on the Tournament you are registering for and enter your access code when prompted
  4. Click on "enter"
  5. On the menu side bar, click on "Register"
  6. Provide the required information including your access code
  7. You will get an automated email confirming your registration

Students first and last names will be visible to all registered participants, if you need an anonymous registration please contact us.

Tournament Registration

Chess for Success organizes tournaments across three categories: regional tournaments, state tournaments, and our informal "for fun" tournaments.  To participate in tournaments you will need to create an account on BracketJD.  An account is necessary because tournament pairings and results will be delivered electronically after each round

Find Your Region

Your region is determined by where your school is located.

If you are a home school student, find your region according to where you live. If you participate in a chess club as a home school student, you may be eligible to participate on the team for that school. Talk to your chess club advisor if you're not sure.

Get Involved
