Finding success and focus through chess
Shokei, who had always struggled with concentration, was homeschooled throughout the pandemic, and his focus worsened.
Within weeks of joining chess club, he found confidence and concentration, and soon could focus on schoolwork and extracurricular activities in a way he had struggled with before.
"Before chess, Shokei couldn't even sit for 15 seconds to focus on anything before wanting to move to something else," said his father.
